Welcome to Swiftpipe

The Swiftpipe group of companies are dedicated to improving the cost, efficiency and safety of laying pipelines.

Swiftpipe supplies proven technology called Zap-Lok® that can join and lay steel line pipe (up to 16 inch or 41cms outside diameter) at rates of over 1000 feet (305 m) per hour using standard 40 feet (12.2 m) line pipe. This is many times faster than conventional welded pipe joining methods with substantial cost and efficiency savings. Offshore, from a lay barge over 30 pipe joints per hour have been achieved using Zap-Lok®.

More than 25,000 kilometres of line pipe joined by Zap-Lok® have been laid with over 2 million joints successfully installed. Zap-Lok® joints are leak tight and have an excellent reliability record over a 20 year service history.

Zap-Lok® eliminates the hazards of pipe girth welding and X-ray inspection. The technology is also safer and more environmentally friendly than conventional welding. Zap-Lok® can be used to join line pipe onshore by "open trenching" and "pull through" pipe lay techniques. Offshore, Zap-Lok® can be used from a barge or similar vessel significantly reducing operational time in the field. For offshore use “beach pull” techniques are fully compatible.

Zap-Lok® is not a Connector but works by mechanical interference of the line pipe being joined. Zap-Lok® joints are as strong as the steel line pipe itself and work on both lined and coated pipe.
